Meriva-SR is a very exciting breakthrough. Its virtues are such that many people with hepatitis feel better quickly on this product. It is also inexpensive, and it is without any side effects.
What makes Meriva different than other curcumin products is that it is a phytosome. Phytosomes are a patented process that binds an herbal extract to phosphatidyl choline, which is a major constituent of cell membranes. This allows the product to be much more permeable in crossing the gut barrier, which results in much higher blood levels of curcumin. One small study showed that 450 mg of Meriva was as efficiently absorbed as 4 grams (4000 mg) of a 95% standardized dose of curcumin.
Curcumin has so many different benefits for the body. Its uses include for cardiovascular conditions with reduction of C-reactive protein as well as cholesterol. It is used for many types of cancer including liver cancer. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory inhibiting NFkB which is a protein molecule which switches on the genes that produce the body's inflammatory responses. This inflammatory process also accelerates as we age. Having a safe and powerful anti-inflammatory has many uses from slowing alzheimers to treating arthritis to reversing hepatic fibrosis.
The specific actions which are important for people with hepatitis C:
Increases bile flow, which helps digestion and aids in eliminating toxicity.
Maintains healthy platelet function and prevents them from sticking to each other which can lead to strokes and heart attacks. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) this compound treats Stagnant Blood by keeping blood flowing smoothly through the body. Normally the liver is extremely well vascularized. As it gets damaged blood does not flow as easily through the liver and the body will create varices to supply enough blood to the liver. Curcumin reverses this process.
Is a powerful anti-oxidant and hepatitis C is a disease of oxidation whereby reactive oxygen species damages hepatocytes or liver cells
Is a strong anti-inflammatory which inhibits fibrotic damage to the liver, from many causes including viral infection.
Curcumin can chelate iron which inhibits the inflammatory response.
Helps protect glutathione and the methylation pathway in the presence of chemical toxins.
It is extremely useful in preventing cancer caused by chemical exposure including liver as well as breast cancer initiated by xeno-estrogens.
Dosage is 2 or 3 caps twice daily before or with meals.
