The herpes family is large with 25 known members of which 8 can produce disease in humans. Herpein comes from Greek, meaning 'to sneak' as these viruses are characterized by lying dormant in the body for long periods of time till they awaken. What makes the AL treatment different from others is that we target the latent virus where it hides as well as the active infection. If you are fighting a terrorist force, you must take away their home base or they will simply come back.
Home base for Herpes Simplex I & II, as well as the Varicella Virus which causes shingles are neurons. You must heal the nervous system. Base camp for EBV, which causes Mononucleosis are white blood cells and up-regulating the immune system is your prime target.
Our treatment principles are healing the nervous system, boosting immunity, anti-virals and liver support or detoxification.
To activate the immune system we REM+, Thymic Protein A, Lactoferrin, an Astragalus Formula, and Vitamin D. The main ingredient in REM+ is a 20 - 1 hot water extract of Reishi mycelium grown on sugar cane bagasse. This strips out an anti-viral lignan called EP3.
To heal the nervous system we use Phosphatidyl Serine, Krill Oil, Garum Amoricum and Membrane Complex. Neurons regenerate extremely slowly. Many tissues like your skin, tongue, or the lining of the GI tract will heal in a couple of days. If you injure your brain it may be a lifelong problem. Nerve growth factor which governs nerve healing peaks in humans at age 2, yes at age 2. Phosphatidyl Serine stimulates the production of nerve growth hormone. It also balances out the negative effects of high cortisol levels on the brain and nervous system, which is how high levels of stress injure the nerves, and brings out herpetic lesions.
The core anti-viral we use in this protocol is Lysine Orotate. All outer cell membranes in the human body are positively charged. Lysine is one of only two positively charged amino acids and it is largely repulsed at the site of the cell membrane, as 2 positive charges repel each other. An Orotate is a negatively charged ion carrier. Combining the two Lysine Orotate has a neutral charge and easily passes through the cell membrane and is quite a potent anti-viral, especially useful in treating the herpes family. In active infections we will give 2 capsules 4 times daily, in latent infection 2 twice daily. We also give Lysine Orotate on a continual basis.
Other direct anti-virals we use on a rotating basis. Direct anti-virals target virus directly. Indirect anti-virals up-regulate the immune system to attack virus. We use many different direct anti-virals, for Mononucleosis we favor Olive Leaf Extract, gargling with Argentyn 23, which is a silver hydrosol, and Monolaurin a derivative of coconut oil. We will often use these 2 weeks at a time. For example using Olive Leaf and Monolaurin, the first week, Olive Leaf and Argentyn 23 the second week, and Argentyn 23 and Monolaurin the third week. Other prominent natural anti-virals are artemisinin, oregano oil, and chaparral derivatives. Chaparral derivatives can be harsh on the liver and not recommended in Hepatitis or Mono which can make the liver sensitive. For shingles we often use an herbal mix with Honeysuckle, Sarasparilla, Pau Darco, Cat's Claw, Red Clover, Milk Thistle and Echinacea.
The best product to support the liver in herpes infection is Acetyl Glutathione. Glutathione is the natural anti-oxidant found in liver cells as well as being one of the body's major pathways for detoxification. If cost is an issue I will often use Milk Thistle.
The last subject to tackle are triggers and lifestyle choices that impact infection. With Herpes Simplex I and II diet is important with high arginine foods like nuts and chocolate often triggering infection. Arginine and lysine have an inverse relationship. For some excessive sugar consumption will also trigger outbreaks. Strong sun exposure as well is another factor. Stress is obviously a huge issue. For mono getting adequate sleep can be an overriding issue.
