Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral Neuropathy is readily treated by a combination of remedies. The core of our protocol is the use of Vinpocetine. Vinpocetine interesting enough comes from the Vinca plant which is a source of very potent alkaloids, including vincristine and vinblastine which are cancer drugs that can commonly cause peripheral nerve damage. Vinpocetine opens up peripheral blood flow around the end of the nerves that are damaged.

We give Vinpocetine in a very exact fashion. We start at a low dose of 20 mg twice daily with meals. We are looking for the lowest effective dose that noticeably increases the circulation in your toes. Increase the dose until you clearly experience more warmth and awareness in your toes. The only warning on Vinpocetine is to start on a low dose in case you have a reaction, though we have never clinically witnessed a negative response other than a little tummy upset.

Vinpocetine is also one of our favorite sexual enhancers. At high dose it will have a Viagra-like effect. One of our students who tried it found that at 150 mg of Vincamine he had an erection that lasted for a few hours, that had nothing to do with his day. Vinpocetine is made from Vincamine. We prefer it as it is easier on the stomach.

The other elements of our Peripheral Neuropathy protocol are R+Lipoic Acid and Phosphatidyl Serine. Lipoic Acid detoxifies neuro-toxins and Phosphatidyl Serine heals the nerves. We will often add other elements such as the B Vitamins, Membrane Complex, Lysine Orotate, and Acetyl Glutathione. Often we will tailor other supplements that address a primary disease such as diabetes if the peripheral neuropathy is a secondary condition.
