Dr. Nieper on HCV

Hans Nieper MD was famous for his assertion that ‘modern medicine’ was not scientific and that it failed to account for the laws of physics as it related to cellular structure.  One of his signature achievements was authoring with collaborators the development of orotates, aspartates, arginates, and 2-aminoethanolphosphates (2-AEP).  These were negatively charged ion carriers that when bonded with positively charged ions such as lithium or lysine created a neutral charged substance that could cross the outer cell membrane and enter cells easily.

All outer cell membranes in humans also are positively charged.  Like magnets meeting with two positive poles this would normally repulse other positive charged ions, which would then need to be transported through special pores in the cell membranes. They found that 2-AEP would bring substances into the cell membrane itself which would turn out to be tremendously valuable in treating nervous system complaints such as MS.  Orotates would carry its bonded medicine into the organelle level of the cells, penetrating to the deepest level of all four carriers, including the nucleus.  It was this understanding of the physical properties of cells that was the basis for his revolutionary work.

Nieper pioneered a treatment for Hepatitis C back when it was referred to as Non-A Non-B Hepatitis. The core of his treatment was using Calcium and Lithium Orotates along with Prednisone to suppress the inflammation of the liver.  His treatment was based on the action of cellular organelles called lysosomes.  Lysosomes are the chemical factories of the cells. Nieper posited that the damaging mechanism in Non-A Non-B Hepatitis was oxidative damage initiated by the lysosomes. One of their mechanisms is the generation of ROS or reactive oxygen species in an attempt to kill invading infections.  Nieper found that by using Calcium & Lithium Orotates to stabilize the membranes of the lysosomes it would quiet down their action of producing ROS and give the liver a chance to heal. This further explains why so many of the western naturopathic supplements to treat Hep C are antioxidants, like glutathione, milk thistle, curcumin, lipoic acid, resveratrol, selenium, and NAC. Orotates are a step closer to the core in preventing the creation of ROS rather than mitigating their action like antioxidants.
