– News From The Clinic –

Marin County, California
Having a clinic where all these medicines are
used firsthand with patients is tremendously useful in crafting
effective protocols. New medicines added this year include
Oxymatrine, Chanca Piedra, Lactoferrin and R+Lipoic Acid.
A quick rundown on how these newcomers are performing: Lactoferrin,
which in Latin means 'milk iron' definitely helps control
iron levels gleaned from before and after blood tests. Chanca
Piedra is quite a bit stronger than Lidan Pian and now is
our primary choice in gall bladder complaints. R+Lipoic is
an improvement over the Jarrow Sustain 300 we were using previously.
Clinically R+Lipoic is very useful when people experience
pain in the liver. Yes, people do experience pain in their
livers.
Oxymatrine which has garnered much attention
elsewhere has been a mixed success. Our strongest remedy to
date, for many Hep C patients they feel immediately better
with more energy on this product. Because we saw such
an instantaneous response we had hoped that this alkaloid
would knock out the hcv virus. In blood test results we found
that it did a very good job lowering liver enzymes, yet the
anti-viral effect was weaker than we had hoped for. We had
a handful of cases of viral load reductions over 90%, yet
the overall picture was less than expected. In Asian testing
there were over 40% zeroing out of the virus and over 70%
normalizing of enzymes. Clinically we did not see anyone
zero out the virus, though one case was close. We did have
quite a few people have their enzymes normalize. We will continue
to follow Oxymatrine closely over time. We are also
directly importing and bottling Oxymatrine as an Alchemist
Lab product as we found Chinese incapsulation subpar.
Soon all our Herbal Combinations as well as
the Hep C Powder and the Coriolus will finally have a new
Dragon Heart label. Dragon Heart is the name of our clinic
in Fairfax, California.
The other item dominating our attention has
been Lyme's Disease. Living in the woods of Northern California
the spread of this poorly understood cluster of infections
has been like wildfire. This piece on the neurotoxic aspect
of treating Lyme's Dx is widely applicable to many toxic exposures
including mold, heavy metals, and chemical poisonings. This
protocol is widely effective as live in a very toxic civilization.
– NeuroDetox for Lyme's Dx –
by Steven Finkbine
Bb is neurotoxic
Borrelia Burgdorfer produces a toxin that disrupts
normal nerve function. This toxin belongs to a family of toxic
proteins known as zinc endoproteinases. Other family members
include clostridia bacteria that cause botulinum and tetanus.
All members of this family cleave the bond between two specific
amino acids in a protein found in nerve cells, disrupting
the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. The disruption
of acetycholine is also a mechanism of alzheimers.
Taking the nutritional precursors for acetylcholine
is a useful treatment for Lyme's. These include phosphatidyl
choline, acetyl-l-carnitine, B-5, B-6, Vitamin C, lysine,
and Same.
Detoxification starts with the liver
The liver gathers toxins which collect in the
bile. Bile after being used in lipid digestion is normally
re-absorbed in the ileum. The first step of detox is
making the body dump bile. The pharmaceutical approach
to neurotoxic conditions is cholestyramine, which sequesters
bile acids, forming an insoluble complex that cannot be recycled.
This is an effective drug. There are many ways to assist
the body in dumping bile , my favorite being the patent gall
bladder formula Lidan Pian. It is much simpler than
doing liver flushes, 5 tiny tablets before meals. Traditionally
used for gallstones and cholecystitis, it increases bile flow,
as well as defecation.
Cellular Membranes are the key
The next aspect of the protocol is using high
dose phospholipids that comprise the structure of cell membranes.
This flushes out the existing cell membranes. The research
of Dr. Patricia Kane and others show that toxins jam into
cell membranes spinning out odd-chained fatty acids that viruses
can use to replicate. We use Phosphatidyl Choline and
Membrane Complex, 2 or 3 caps of each before or with each
meal. Membrane Complex is also known as 2-AEP, or 2-AminoEthanolPhosphate.
It is bonded with calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
It was created by Dr. Hans Nieper and is a primary treatment
for repairing the myelin sheath.
Glutathione
Glutathione is composed of three amino acids
glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. Cysteine is the
bottleneck in glutathione production, primarily because pasteurization
of dairy products denatures cysteine. Glutathione is
the most powerful antioxidant naturally occurring in all human
cells. The liver has the highest concentration of this
compound in the body. Glutathione helps maintain the immune
system, its antioxidant property is vital to white blood cells.
It is also the anti-oxidant protection for red blood cells
and is a potent and fast blood tonic. Glutathione is a key
to treating diseases as diverse as hepatitis, parkinsons,
emphysema, and heavy metal poisoning. One of the trickier
aspects of treating Lyme's is making sure that mercury toxicity
is addressed, especially with patients in the Bay Area, as
there are natural mercury mines in this area. The strongest
way to do glutathione is through IV therapy. Next best is
an oral liposome from Wellness Pharmacy. Third strongest is
L-Glutathione tablets from Professional Formulas. Natural
whey is inexpensive and if patients like smoothies it is a
useful treatment, it also has an anabolic action used for
muscle building.
